Accessing eResources

Use the sections below for links to journals, databases or eBooks related to your subject. The link to each resource also includes login information.

eResource Access Details
JSTOR
A digital library that gives you access to more than 10 million academic journal articles, books, and primary sources on a wide range of subjects.
Within college click on the title of the resource and it will open in a new tab.
For access outside of college click on the title of the resource and then click the link ‘Log in through your library’, which can be found at the top of the web page. In the box ‘Search by Institution Name’ type in ‘Aquinas’ and click the ‘Search’ button. In the list of institutions click the ‘Log in’ link next to ‘Aquinas Sixth Form College, UK’. Enter the login details you use when logging into the computers in college. Remember to add @aquinas.ac.uk to your username.

To access the resources below, for reasons of copyright, you may be asked to enter the username and password you use to access your college Google account. A web page will open in a new tab detailing how to access the resource.

The Woodworker The Woodworker provides helpful tips, handy guides and inspiration for woodworking projects, along with expert advice in every issue on every area of woodworking.
Oxford Art Online (Available from Stockport Public Library) Oxford Art Online covers the entire history of the visual arts from early cave painting to Damien Hirst. You can search for articles and images covering the whole spectrum of fine and decorative arts including painting, architecture, sculpture, ceramics, textiles, jewellery, metal work and much more

eResource Description
Art UK Art UK works with the UK’s public art collections to showcase their artworks. Read the stories behind the paintings and where you can go to see them. Includes paintings from thousands of museums and other public institutions.
Design Council The Design Council ‘champion great design’ and are recognised as a leading authority on the use of strategic design.
VADS VADS is the online resource for visual arts. Free access to over 12,000 images designed for use in teaching and learning. They include paintings, prints, propaganda posters and fashion designs taken from major UK collections.
Victoria and Albert Museum To quote the Museum on their ‘About us’ page the “V&A is the world’s leading museum of art and design, housing a permanent collection of over 2.3 million objects that span over 5,000 years of human creativity. The Museum holds many of the UK’s national collections and houses some of the greatest resources for the study of architecture, furniture, fashion, textiles, photography, sculpture, painting, jewellery, glass, ceramics, book arts, Asian art and design, theatre and performance”.
Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection The Zandra Rhodes Digital Study Collection is an online selection of over 500 couture dresses and garments from the 1960s to the present day, including pieces worn by Diana Princess of Wales.
