Maya Angelou, 1928 – 2014.

Marguerite Annie Johnson, or Maya (the nickname her brother gave her), acclaimed author, poet, actor and civil-rights activist, died on 28 May 2014.

You may have read her autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings, when you were in high school.  If you haven’t, it is well worth reading.

I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings and other books written by Maya Angelou are available from the Learning Centre.
