Joker

Film review

Joaquin Phoenix’s award winning performance is brilliant and disturbing in equal measure. We can’t help but feel empathy for the character Arthur Fleck. He is a bullied, lonely and delusional failed comedian. He lives a very sad existence with his dependent narcissistic mother. Becoming Joker gives this abused, pathetic character a sense of purpose. Ironically he finally receives acceptance from a city that is spiralling into anarchy and violence.

I would recommend this Bafta award winning film. Joaquin Phoenix’s performance justly deserves the award of Best Actor. His portrayal of Arthur Fleck’s descent into madness is utterly believable.
